Competency 1.15 FTP
File transfer protocol (FTP) is an efficient way in which to move files between servers and computers. FTP allows you to download and install large software applications, text files, or image files. To put a Web site on the World Wide Web you must build the pages and then "FTP" your all conneced files (image files, sound files, and video files) to the server hosting the actual Web site. Through my ITSC program I used SSH Secure File Transfer to transfer files from my computer to the Penn State Server. I am also familiar with DocuShare and SmartFTP . Here are 2 examples of products that I have used to FTP files.
